Hi-- I'm a newbie.
I'd dearly love to hear about experiences with stomach pH tests. I've never had one, and am not sure I could get one, as I live in the boonies, where there's a doctor shortage. Some people -- mostly naturopaths, I suppose, but some conventional docs, too -- claim that a large percentage of people diagnosed with GERD actually are suffering from low acid, especially those over 50.
I've been on Prevacid over a year and now am on a motility drug. Do all the right things. Not overweight, don't smoke, gave up caffeine, sugar, wheat, alcohol, dairy, etc., etc. Not doing too well. I'm starting to wonder whether the problem is low acid. If so, I'm on exactly the wrong medication. Sigh.
