I am thinking about having one this summer.  But my Acid reflux is bad.  Been on Prevacid for a couple of yrs.  Going to try Nexuim, if any of you have had a Colonscopy was it hard to drink all the solution they want you to drink?  Right now I still have water even coming up on me.  So how do you drink it without having Acid reflux?

Thank you, Deb

Hi Deb,
There are many different preps now for a colonoscopy. My most recent colonoscopy prep did not include the gallon of sodium phosphate (golytely, fleet, etc). I actually took the Visicol tablets which are a little big and you do need to take a lot however much better IMO than the liquid preps. For any colonoscopy prep you need to make sure you are replenishing your fluids continuously so you don't get dehydrated. Hope this helps a little.
Take Care

Agreed, drink lots of water.

I like Nexium, I do much better on it, Prevacid made me super sick.

Are you having the colonoscopy to help you learn something about the GERD?

I am 52 & have been putting off having my first colonscopy, which they want you to have the first one at 50.

But I have a sore spot in my upper area of stomach. When that is really sore it's like a gnawing hungry feeling & I have to eat or I get really shaky. The Dr. has told me I can have the Nissan surgery & that would help with the sore spot but not the Shaky feeling. I am not a Dietabtic, have fasted & drink liquid & had my blood sugar checked it's ok.

I have had 1 endoscope done & it showed imflammation & my stomach not emptying good. I am on Elivil which can cause slow emptying but I need the Elivil to sleep & for my Fibromyalgia. They tried me on Reglan for the faster emptying which helped but I had a reaction to it so had to quit it. It also didn't help the gnawing feeling.

I just don't know if I will be able to drink all the liguid in preparation for the colonscopy because of the Gerd.

Thank you for your respones.

Deb

He said it's inflammation that never heals, even with the Prevacid. Don't know when I start the Nexium if that will help!
