After battling 2 years on and off ppis, I am now on otc zantac...I take 3 75 mg a day...I still get that full feeling in my chest but it is bearable.  Does anyone know if it is okay to take zantac daily...I would assume so since the prescribe ppis to take daily indefinitely.  I just was concerned about the safety.  I know this is digestive cause I feel better if I eat protein and I can see a connection between bowels and upper digestive symptoms.  I feel like I have almost all the pieces to a puzzle but not quite enough, you know?  I am taking probiotics, fiber, and eating low carb and am so very much better off the nexium but I still am not like I was. Right now I feel a weird liquid sensation in my chest and my stomach burns.  It feels like my lunch is still around my throat.  But...I am back at work and no longer in bed daily.  I wish I knew the answer.

But...back to my question...daily zantac ok...forever????????????

yes its ok to take daily, normal dosage is around 150mg once daily but can be taken up to 300mg if needed, do you have a hiatus hernia ? is that what causes your sensation of fullness in chest and feeling you describe in throat or is it caused by gerd

Not sure if this is right hearty, but I read that too much protein (or acid foods I guess) can be hard to digest. Gas pressure is then caused because the food sits around and ferments.

I've been getting some annoying gas while low-carbing it also. It's seems to be in the large intestine. I have IBS and I swear it was under control until I got off of the PPIs. Now I've had gas in varying degrees almost every day. When it's really bad (after eating too many veggies), the GERD starts up a little. I just bought some Beano yesterday and gave it a try with dinner and it worked amazingly well. I wonder if the PPIs or just age has caused my digestive system to be all funky? I feel like it's lacking something to digest my food.

I could try more grains and that would probably help the lower intestinal gas, but then I would have more reflux. confused

Certain vegetables supposedly cause more gas than others such as broccoli and onions. Perhaps eating more of the vegetables that don't would help? I seem to be fine with carrots or orange vegs.
