Well I have been taking only 1/2 a 20mg PPI daily for 2 months or more now. I can't believe how good I feel! I now know that a lot of my symptoms were side effects from the strength of the tablets.
I tried to cut back to a 1/4 of a tablet but this was a bit too ambitious, so I went back to 1/2. I am going to attempt this again tomorrow.
My diet these days is simply low-fat. I am fine with most things. I have eaten chocolate, raw onions and apples(1st time since last summer!) and have drank regular tea and coffee with no symptoms whatsoever.
It seems that 10mg is right for me at present and I believe it is worth thinking about whether less is more, if you know what I mean? Strong PPI's can block acid to an extent that food isn't digested properly and you get a different type of indigestion.(I certainly did).
