I go back to the gastroentologist on Tuesday. I know I need to ask for the endoscopy cause my general doctor told me to.  But I need to know what the connection is between this gerd problem and my bowels.  I know if I get bad gas or start cramping or constipated or whatever, my gerd will be worse that day.

Also, I have sinus like symptoms when my gerd is the worst. Like my nose burns and my sinuses drain. It is very uncomfortable.

Also, the blasted chest pains...which usually get better if I eat.

My thing is the doctor will look at me and chalk it all up to being a woman if I give him all my symptoms. Know what I mean?  He laughed at me last time I went to him cause I told him I had chest pain. He actually said it could not be gerd and sent me back to my doctor for an ekg. My doctor did it but the whole time he was telling me the other doctor was basically wrong for suggesting gerd and chest pain don't go together. I live in a very small town and this specialist is my only option.

So....anyone know the stomach/sinus/gerd connection?

I go on Tuesday. Thanks for your responses in advance!!

Also, I have a problem with muscle pain in my left shoulder that radiates. It can be really bad and worsens if I accidently sleep on it. I notice it is worse when my gerd flares. Is there an explanation for this?

Hi Hearty, if this doctor is your only option, why not bring him a medical article where the symptoms are outlined? Say some disclaimers, then leave it for him/her to read. If you are taking a PPI, the constipation is worse in the beginning. I had it too, so I can tell you that slowly introducing fiber from vegetables and fruit you can eat without worsening your symptoms does help. Beets and kale are my favorite weapons. They are gentler than a plateful of salad, and you can include them in a smoothie with bananas and control the amounts a lot better.
