Last year I developed this pain in my chest and lump in my throat that my GI, who treats me for Crohn's, said was probably reflux and gave me some prevacid.  After months it finally went away.  I stopped taking the prevacid and went on my way.
Well, last week I started taking my Questran and Flonase again and developed a sore throat, which turned into a aching/sometimes burning chest and the lump in my throat is back.  Is this Gerd?  I always thought it would start with heartburn, which I had when I was pregnant but this doesn't seem to feel like that.  Though I do get burning in my chest from time to time.  I feel better when I eat and there's no real pattern to all the different symptoms.
How long does the prevacid usually take to work and get rid of the ache and lump?  I wonder if the questran is causing it but I can't remember if I was taking it the last time I developed these symptoms.  I know it went away before and that worrying about it is not helping, but I'm just wondering if anyone has a timeframe of what to look for as far as feeling better.

my doc claims this is chronic and to not stop taking the meds....after over 2 years going on and off the ppis...i am beginning to believe him

by the way, i can trace my gerd to meds (antibiotics, nasonex, prednisone, lortab, motrin and muscle relaxants) I never took any meds before and then took all that in large doses in one summer....don't go to that doc anymore...and i am on none of the meds....did get a nasty case of gerd tho
