mad  please help.  I'm new to the forum.  I was diagnosed with GERD and hiatal hernia in conjunction with pnemonia that would not go away.  Upon a 2month journey into the medical I don't live in very much, and the use of oxygen upon exsertion.. I was diagnosed with an aspiration event into my lung.  The lung doc believes it to be associated with the hernial and reflux so sends me to gut doc who scopes me and says that in his opinion it is not the hernia ( that looked huge to me on the ct scan) but the acid we have to worry about..don't need surgery..YEAH. I now take 40mg of protonix 2x's a day.  My oxygen saturation is almost normal again..the acid irratates my lungs I guess..can't seem to get a straight answer for that.  I am not overweight and only had incidents of reflux when I overate at night or was overweight.  Don't have much pain at all from the hernia..sometimes..I had terrible symptoms though during the pnemonia..mouth sores, sore throat, reflux like crazy..even tons of joint pain that still hasn't gone away.  I have switched to 1/2 low acid and 1/2 decaf cup a day.  No other chocolate, nothing to eat at least 3.5 hours before bed..trying to include way more alkaline foods..small meals, yada, yada, yada..but I can't sleep.  I'm on my 2nd "wedge".  First a cheappy one, then somehow believed if it was more expensive it might work. the only I have is longer shoulders, my neck, my knees...from sleeping on my back or my side constantly in that weird position!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm ready to buy a sleep comfort adjustable bed!! has anyone figured out the sleep puzzle?  can't elevate my's a sleigh bed with tons of posts etc
sorry so long..was a long sleepless night and no D*&@ caffiene
