Went to my doc yesterday and he prescribed Reglan to go along with my Nexium. Is anyone here currently taking Reglan? If so, is there anything (side effect wise) that I should look out for? Thanks

I've been taking Reglan since 1990 for gastroparesis. Went off of it for a time and was on Propulsid, but that went off the market, so back on Reglan.

Reglan makes me tired and can give one diarrhea. I used to try to take 5 mg. before every meal and was okay, but it got to the point even that didn't work. Taking 40 mg. a day made me really tired. Now I just eat one meal a day and take 10 mg. a day and I tolerate it better and my gastroparesis is far better.

I'll only be on Nexium another month, then I have to switch to Protonix as the Nexium won't be covered by my insurance anymore.

Hugs,
Faye

:-)  good luck on the protonix, it made me dizzy and i got insomnia, but there are many others who take it and do not suffer these side effects, ggod luck, i think it is quite different than what you have been on.

Well I tried a sample of Prevacid and it didn't help at all with the reflux, so I don't have many choices now. I need something for a few more months to try to get rid of the erosive esophagitis. I hope I don't have to be on these PPI's forever.

My husband has been on Protonix now for well over 4 years. He doesn't even try to get off of it.

Another name for it is metoclopramide and it took me 6 months to go see my doctor because I was extremely tired and suffering mild depression. After a week of stopping I came back to normal. The drug worked great, I just took 10mg before going to bed and with 30mg of Zoton in the morning I was symptom free tongue

I am now on an alternative but if you are interested in the reported side-effects, check out the UK yellow card database http://www.mhra.gov.uk/home/idcplg?IdcService=SS_GET_PAGE&nodeId=959  which is where doctors and patients report side-effects.  You will need to look until the UK name for the drug.

In my experience the drug worked well, but unfortunately I just couldn't tolerate it. So I think its worth a try to see how you get on.
