Well, I was worried that I wasn't making the right decision about the surgery.  I mean my ultrasounds of my GB have all been very normal, CT scan was normal.  The only thing abnormal was a Hida scan I had done that showed it wasn't emptying properly.
So after my surgery on Friday my surgeon came in to see me.  He tells me that he was very surprised!  My gallbladder looked awful!!!!!  He said it was very discolored, misshapen and started to form adhesions inside my abdominal cavity-ouch!  Also, it was full of sludge.  Ill get a pathology report back in 2 weeks on it.
Needless to say, I am glad I did it now!  Even if it doesn't help with any of my GI problems including GERD, I did the right thing.  If I would have left it in, it would have just gotten worse and who knows what else would have happened?
Im still very sore and so, so tired!  Anyone else have their GB's removed?  Any advice on a good recovery?  I did have it done laproscopically so that was a good thing at least.
Thanks all for the well wishes-I really appreciated them!!

I had my GB taken out via laproscropy quite a few years ago. If I remember correctly, I was sore for a few days but was up and about in about a week and could resume most of my activities by the end of the 2nd week.

Hope you feel better soon.

Nancy, I had my gallbladder removed on the 22nd. Doctor didn't see me after my surgery that I remember and did not tell my husband anything except that the surgery went fine. However 5 days after my surgery, the pain is back. I had very atypical symptoms and all the ultrsounds showed nothing but my HIDA scan showed an ejaction fraction of only 9%. I go on Wednesday for the follow-up and see what the surgeon says he found. It had bettter have been diseased because I hate to think I did this for nothing!!!!

Just 33 hours after surgery, the surgeon told be to go off the pain medication and just take Tylenol because it appeared that I was having a reaction to the pain pills. Tylenol doesn't work as well but the pain pills didn't really help except the first day. Then again maybe it was the two injections of morphine that was working the first day and not the pain pills. ??????

I'm on day six and still very uncomfortable but that is the way my body works. I am never normal. The surgical center called on Wednesday to see how I was doing and I expressed surprise over how much pain I was in because everyone had pretty much said I would only be sore. My lady I talked to said everyone is different and that he was pretty invasive with me checking my liver, kidneys and biliary system. I asked if this was normal. She said no. ???? I couldn't get anything else out of her and will have to ask on Wednesday.

My appointment on Wednesday is another weird thing. Before they released me, they made a big deal about him wanting to see me in ONE week. "Call today or tomorrow and make the appointmen." I called the next day and the receptionist said that it wasn't right. She said he sees his gallbladder patients in two weeks, not one. I told her they told me three times to make the appointment for one week, they even told my husband and wrote it on my release paper. ???? She finally gave me the appointment but I wonder if the pathology report will be back on me in just one week.

I'm a little discouraged right now and wondering what is going on and if I made the right decision. I'm glad everything went good for you though and that you're on the road to recovery.
