Hi, I'm new to the forums and have learnt quite a few things by lurking over the last couple of months.

I'm going into hospital on 18 September to have the above procedures.  The surgeon is doing them laproscopically but when he described the pain after he said I would feel as if I've been hit in the stomach by a bus.  He said I will find it really difficult to eat meat and bread after the operation for at least three months and that I will be on a diet of smooth foods!

I just wanted to know if anyone has had either of these operations and if you could let me have any tips, ideas of what it will be like.  The nearer its getting the more nervous I'm becoming and not sleeping at all!

Any help/encouragement would be great.

Thanks, Helen
