OK

After much anxiety I finally made an appt at the doctors hoping to get a referral to a GI today at 10:30 (California Time). I have Kaiser and I unfortunately cannot just go to the Gastro without a referral. I have much anxiety over this. I know it was the eating disorder that I suffered with for 15 years that has caused this and am petrified about being scoped because of it. But as long as they give me happy juice I will hopefully be ok.

Ok

Back from Doc and they gave me a referral. The GI department is suppose to call me in a couple of days for an appt.....Fear of the Unknow....I did ask her what the chances are of EC and she said minimal at my age. She told me she usually sees it in men in there 60's who have smoked all there lives. I have bad habits and smoking is not one of them.

Thanks
Again

She also switched me from generic prilosec to Nexium

Hi skooby.. You are doing the right thing by going to the GI.. A lot of people find it easier to face something if you know what you are dealing with and have a good supportive doc by your side.. The supportive doc is very important.. Try not to be to nervous cause that can upset gerd... There is nothing you can do now to change anything you did in the past.. We all have done something we regret but regret gets you no where..
I hope this helps and please keep us posted..

Hi Skooby,

I agree you did the right thing by going to the doctor. I hope you don't have to wait to long for your referral. Try not to worry, I know thats easy for me to say, but i agree with poobear that you cannot change the past.
Keep in touch and let us know when you hear something

Thanks guys encouraging words all always good to hear.

Seeing the GI doc is taking alot of courage it is my ultimate fear. I have been suffering on and off with this for 3 1/2 years. I remember telling my husband at a weak moment that I would rather die then know what the damage is I have done to my body. I have been doing alot of praying and I think my son's spirit is helping me fight the fear. I need to be there for my 11 year old daughter who needs a mom that is healthy. I also need to be there for my husband he is my rock and believe me I have put him through alot of crap with this especially the panic attacks that result from it.

The doc said if I don't hear from the GI in 3 business days that I need to give them a call so hopefully by the end of the week I should know something.
