I read that many people on this board have asthma, which I personally believe is caused by untreated allergies.  If you have any allergies, especially to pollen (allergic rhinitis), stay away from chamomile.  The flowers are in the same family as asters/daisies/mums/ragweed.

Read the following and scroll all the way down to see possible allergic reactions.

I just bought a new brand of DGL licorice and on the bottle it warned that anyone with liver or kidney disease should not use it.  Thought I should post it for your information.  It didn't say this on the first bottle I purchased.

We all have to be careful about using new herbs and supplements, they can have allergic reactions and cause more problems than we already have.

I have asthma but I drink chamomile and it doesn't bother me. I really depends what you're allergic to. I've had asthma since I was very young. I read about chamomile causing allergies on some people, but it doesn't bother me at all.

You also have to be careful with the DGL Licorice (chewable) some DGL contains GLYCYRRHIZIN and this is bad and can cause some medcial conditions to become worst. DGL can interfer with other medications. everyone should look up side effects to dgl licorice before trying it. Always read up on home remedies before trying them...
And it is the chewables that are supposed to help with ulcers.

Chartreux,
the DGL form of licorice is the safe one. The bad part, that causes high blood pressure is removed. It's DE-GLYCYRRHIZINATED. Other licorice is dangerous but even this good form is not to be used by people with liver/kidney problems.

Precious,
Have you been tested for allergies since you have asthma? My son had asthma as a child and when I treated his allergies (getting rid of everything he was allergic to and avoiding allergens, the asthma went away. If you haven't bene tested, please do so since it may really help you.

Danie,
I don't remember if I've been tested for allergies, I was too young when I started having problems with asthma. Anyway, I am symptom free now and have been for the past couple of years. My problem is that I'm allergic to seafood like shrimp, shellfish, etc. I don't eat any of the things that cause me allergies. I almost died before after accidentally ingesting shrimp. I have an epipen injection. BY the grace of God I'm doing great though.
