I'm new to this board. I have been suffering for over a year now. I have the acid taste in my mouth at all times, everyday all day. I have been to doctors and have tried all the medications, prilosec, nexium, acphiex, protonix and so on. I've lost my appetite and have lost 18 lbs due to this problem. I went down to 101 and have gained 6 lbs back in the last few months. But, I know my appetite is failing again. I eat very healthy, nothing acidic.  Does anyone have any suggestions? I am very anti-doctor these days. The doctors gave up on me and told me to try antidepressents. I don't want to,
Please help me.

Hi Melinda,
I have had a bad stomach for years, almost 15 years. I would wake up choked on acids and have to get up and vomit. Finally they recommended stomach surgery, where they do a wrap pulling my stomach around my esophagas to keep down the acid. They informed me I have a spot on my esophagas which could turn to cancer and the acid didn't need to come up and get on the spot that they found.

I had the surgery done and it slipped so they had to repeat it. Now this time, they got it so tight I havent been able enough to eat food. They told me I should be back to normal within 3 months and that was 2 years ago. Now I have to fight it everyday to make myself eat. I have lost down from 153 to 105. Its really sad and I worry all the time.

Now I have a bad slipped disc and not even sure if they can do surgery because my weight is so far down.

Im sorry about your stomach, I know you are suffering.

Always becareful and ask a lot of questions if they ever recomend surgery.

They have me on antidepessents too. Some days I feel like it helps and other days I worry about everything.

Keep me posted how you are. I will remember you in my prayers.

What foods are you eating? Did you try the DGL licorice 20 minutes before eating?

You could try going to a naturopathic doctor. I have discussed herbs and non-drug therapies with my regular GI doctor and to him nothing works unless if you take all the PPIs and or get the surgery if you want to be off the meds. I wasn't convinced of course.

Like you, I have lost a lot of weight and I am still working on gaining weight not which is hard because I'm watching what I eat. I was put on anti-depressants too but after I read all the side effects I stopped.

Although I haven't gone to a natural doctor yet, I've tried herbal supplements and they are working great for me. I'll go see a homeopathic doctor sometime, I'm moving out of state and have to find one.

Precious, what kind of herbal supplements are working for you?

I use DGL (licorice), aloe vera and a drink that has slippery elm, marshmallow root, burdock root and orange peel extract. It's called Acid Gone and I got it from nutrigenesis.com. I'm usually fine but sometimes I have heartburn at night.

Hope this will work for you.
