I dont even know where to start.
I had the LES surgery, and it slipped, so they advised me I should have it done again.  It's where they pull some of your stomach up and wrap it around your esophagas.  So I let them do this a second time.  The first time within 3 months I was able to eat what I wanted.  The second time, my appitite has not came back and the last surgery was over 3 years ago.
I have gone from 153 lbs down to 105 lbs.
Im really getting scared.
They have gone in and looked and it all seems fine.
I have tried ensure milk and vitimans.
They have since than put me on a anti-depressiant and it hasn't helped.
Now I have a slipped disc on top of that and i have to take pain pills all the time.  I know that can decrease your appitite some.  But not like this.
I would not advise anyone to have the stomach surgery, it's awful.   I don't know what went wrong but it's bad to have to get up and fight to eat food, anything to stay alive.  I have no appitite for any kind of food.  If anyone has anything they can tell me to try.  Some times I wonder if it's not panic attacks.
If anyone has ever been in this shape, please tell me what you went through and how you overcame it?
Thank You so much

Hi Autum,

Thank you so much for your reply,  I am just getting back from the hospital right now.

They ran an MRI on my back and my other doctor took blood.  She seems to think, its my thyroids.  She said the results came back low the last time.  And if this is the case, they can put me on meds to correct it.   I pray to God that is all that is wrong with me.

IM sorry your stomach bothers you as bad.  Its really a bad hurt.

Keep me posted and I will do the same.

Thanks, Rose

Hope everything works out for both of you. If you take pain medications, make sure that you don't lie down right away after taking them. Stay upright.

As far as gaining weight, try to keep a food diary and maybe you can figure out if you have any allergies to some foods and that is the reason you can't eat them. Have you been tested by an allergist for specific foods?

Even if you don't have appetite, try to eat things that are nutritious. I eat alot of cooked vegetables - spinach, carrots, string beans, sweet potatoes, tofu, quinoa (you have to cook it) and puffed millet (alot of supermarkets carry it) with melons. The grains along with tofu are very high in protein. You can eat DRIED figs and dates and get alot of potassium. Take a daily multivitamin and some calcium. Calcium citrate is the best with magnesium. Calcium carbonate can constipate.
Can you eat any of these foods?

Hi everyone,

I went to have an MRI yesterday for my back.  I go in for the follow up appointment on the 26th of oct (this month) and get the results on my back.

They also ran blood work thinking it could be my thyroids, as they said the last time the level was really low.  But I called today and was told it all came back normal.  So I am right back not knowing whats keeping me from not caring about food.

I get so worried at times because no one can tell me whats wrong.

My family seems to think it's deppression, but I dont feel depressed.

I do think all of the problems have cause anxiety.

They did have me on Cymbalta, now they have changed it to Lexipro, hope I spelt that right.

I do try to eat cooked veggies, and anything I can eat.  Food just doesnt appeal to me.

Thank you all so much for your replys.  It means a lot to know someone cares.

I feel so bad for all of us, and seems like its hard to even find a doctor that cares anymore.

You are all in my prayers.  May God Bless you all!

Have you been to a neurologist? It may be helpful to see this type of specialist.

I havent been to see a neurologist, however I will keep it in mind.

I do have some great news. When I went to see my doctor months ago, she perscribed a appitite pill for me. I took it for awhile and than slowly stopped taking them. My husband had been on me for awhile to try it and see if it would help me to want to eat. I started taking it about 3 days ago, and Praise the Lord, I am now able to eat. I have gained 5 lbs in 2 days.
If anyone needs the name of it, I would be glad to share the name of it with you all. I dont have my bottle with me right now but I will get the name later and tell it to you all.

I go back on my follow up appointment on the 10/26 to get the word as to what is going on with my back. We seen it on a X-Ray and my doctor pointed out the bad disc. And from the way it looked I think I will have to be operated on.

To me the disc looks like it has crashed on one side and its pushing the jel looking stuff out, it smooshed so bad you can even see the jel touching where my nerve are running down my left side.

No telling what I have done to myself. the pain runs down my buttock on my left side and runs all the way down the back of my leg,

When I do get lucky enough to get it eased, it feels so SORE.

I want to have back surgery so I can get off of all the meds they have me on. Here are the names of them.

Hydrocodone 7.5 qty 90 Avinza 60mg, which is morphine qty30

Ambien 10 mg qty 30 Lyrica 150 mg qty 60

Lexapro 10mg qty 30

Prilicec stomach pill 20mg you can buy these over the counter

But what I want them to do is surgery so I wont need these pills anymore. I feel like all I am going is killing my liver.

On the 26th, when I go in, Im going to ask them if my back can be fixed. And if it can, Im going to let them do it. Im going to tell them all about my stomach and my nerves. I think alot of not wanting to eat is because half of these medications are decreasing my appitite.

I have been taking care of my dad with all of this going on with me. He has been sick for over a year with prostate cancer and he got to where he couldnt eat, and i think alot of that made me not want to eat either, watching him starve himself to death. When I would ask him if he was hungry he would just say no. He got to where he couldnt eat a bite. I would make him banana shakes with the ensure milk and raw eggs in it.
Than I would feed him his shake and then I would just go back to bed with my leg hurting so bad I couldnt stand it.

My dad died 3 weeks ago Oct 3rd. Fell dead right in my face, and I was home alone. I havent even faced that he is gone yet. I have his bedroom door shut, and everything is still setting right where he left it.
I miss him so bad sometimes it feels like I should go in there and check on him. My 3 daughters are supposed to come up and help me clean out his room and change it. Maybe paint and get rid of everything in his room. I know he isn't coming back. But with all of this going on. and with me being so sick myself. Im sure I will get my weight back on, just will take some time.

Sorry I got to talking to much. I dont have very many people to speak these thing to.

Thank you so much for spending time with me on here, it really helps to know you have someone here to listen everyday. '

You are all in my prayers.

So sorry to hear about your Dad. It doesn't seem to me that you should have any regrets though. You took care of him, that should be comforting for you.

Good luck with your back. The pain you experience going down your leg must be from sciatica. Your back problem is pushing on your sciatic nerve going down your leg. Here's a link to explain it further.

Again, my sincere condolences.
