For some reason enough of you keep questioning DGL licorice.  The difference has been explained many times but here it is again.  DGL licorice is the SAFE form to take, the bad part of licorice that causes high blood pressure has been taken out.  You have to chew and dissolve 2-3 tablets in your mouth with saliva 20 minutes before you eat and at bedtime.
Here's an explanation from an MD.....
Putting Heartburn to Bed? - Dr. Weil on DGL licorice
You can order it on line at Puritan Pride - very inexpensive, they always have 2 for price of 1 or even better deals at certain times of the year.  I have been using this one and have had great success.
I went from severe nausea/dizziness, tightness in esophagus  1 1/2 months ago - I am well on my way to healing naturally.  I have also been following an alkaline diet - please see my postings in Sept.
Hope this helps all of you.  I have to say, I was very discouraged at first because I didn't see any difference.  I was tempted to go back on drugs (took Prilosec for 1 month and then had a rebound effect) but I refused to go back and thought I could conquer GERD thru natural methods.  I was not going to take drugs more than 1 month!!!  I was right!  You can all do it too but believe me, you need very strong willpower to do it and never give up with the natural methods.

I myself are off drugs and doing good(more than 1 month now). Only when I know I'm going to eat a lot do I take minimum dose of zantac.

The DGL licorice works well for me, as well as Aloe Vera and slippery elm. Hope you can all find relief.

I'm so glad you're doing well. Try to get yourself off the Zantac (the DGL has the same effect and it's natural). Dissolve more than 1 DGL at a time, I use 3 at a time and will cut to 2 soon.
Here is some information from Dr. Weil from his site....

I was always pessimistic about herbal supplements. BUT I must admit, after reading an earlier thread you did on dgl licorice I tried it 2 weeks ago, and it has worked wonders for me. I am less acidic now, I still take my nexium, but I don't reaaly take gaviscom or zantac anymore.

What about slippery elm, is that effective as well, what does it do?
