Hi:

I found the site in my desperate search for answers. I’ve been diagnosed with GERD. Finally all my symptoms make sense (sour taste, burning throat, post nasal drip, difficulty to breath…) for years they told me I suffered from allergies, I've suffered from this for as long as I can remember. The thing is……they prescribed me with Nexium, I tried it for 10 days, it gave me a headache but it alleviated my symptoms I was soooo happy. However I don’t know if I should go on medication after reading all the reviews:

Nexium has a ton of side effects,

If I stop taking it will I get the symptoms back?

How bad could this be for your body after all is an acid suppressant?

Should I try to battle my disease naturally or is it too late and I had to go on medication?

Any suggestions???

If you have been taking it for a while you might be able to try and take it like every other day. When I started taking mine I was on it for about 3 months. After that I stopped cold turkey, cause I had to be off it 3 weeks before my gastroscopy. Anyhow, during those 3 weeks I was symptom free, but it did come back. Thats when I started taking the nexium only when I needed one. So now I only take them maybe 3 times a week, and that seems enough to keep my symptoms away.

Sorry to hear about the side affects. I have none. You could try asking your doctor for another kind of med like somac or something.
Hospitalized with Infectious Colitis.
Colonscopy showed ulcers.Diagnose changed to either UC or Crohn's
Whatever it is, I was told its mild...
Medication Asacol 1x3
Never had a good follow up - no small bowel test at all.
Gastroscopy was normal, but Still have a burning feeling in my stomach.
Looking for a doctor in Oslo who knows what he's doing atm.
