Hello, my name is Rose, I have been to see so many doctors it is not even funny.
I have a ruptured disc, and was just released from the hospital.  I thought forsure I would be able to get something done with being there.
The pain starts in my back and run down my left leg.  They started out calling it scatica.
I was told now, there is nothing that they can do, my doctor did a spinal block on me where he put pain meds right on the disc that was ruptured, if this helped my leg, than he could operate and try and fix it.
They did a nerve test and the Dr. said I have nerve damage in my left leg.
When I woke up from the spinal block, it had not helped, I was still hurting down my leg.  So this doctor said surgery would not help.  So I have been sent home now to live with this for the rest of my life.  The only hope I have are epidurals and pain meds.
I am just 42 years old and I have 3 daughters and 1 grand daughter with another on the way.
Im just wondering if there is anyone else out there with nerve damage.  and if so, can anything be done.  This is awful, I dont see how I can go on the rest of my life with this pain.  It's the most awful pain I have ever felt.
It never stops, its almost like something is eating at my bone, it starts in my buttock and it goes all the way to my ankle.  Sometimes my knee cramps so bad, it feels like it has been busted.  It has taken over my life.   Please advise if there is someone else out there who suffers as I do.  Thank you, and God Bless You All.

Hi Rose. I see you haven't been to the Chronic Pain forum yet, so I'll respond here for now.
I too had sciatica with my left leg. It even started moving down my right leg at one point. Long story short...I went for acupuncture which helped quite a bit...seemed to loosen everything up so it wasn't so tense all the time. I used MSM three times a day and in a short time the pain began to subside quite dramatically. The one thing tho that made the most difference, and I know you'll hear otherwise from most people...exercise. Once the pain had become bearable I started using a stepping machine daily. It really works. I can skip a day or two, but then the pain starts creeping back you have to stick with it. First find a way to cut the inflamation so you're not in so much pain. That's what I used the MSM for, but you can't use it if you're on blood thinners. Then slowly start exercising and stick with it. Hope this helps. It's worth a try.

Hey Rose,
I am not sure how serious or whether it is a physical injury that is the root of the pain, but what I can do is suggest something. Riverotter posted something on his cure for GERD. It's Dr. Sarno's method, originally for back pain, but we been using it for our reflux. He talks about leg pain too, about that scatia thing as well. Try picking up Dr. Sarno's books. I like the Mind Body prescription. Check out Riverotter's post if you want too. I'm not sure if this may help in your condition, but might as well right? Got nothing to lose and all to gain. By your GOD bless you. I guess you believe in GOD. I do too. It's the Christmas time, I believe GOD created bodies that can heal the bodies, and minds that can heal the minds and  minds that can heal the bodies. And I definetly GOD can heal us all if we have faith.
Its the Christmas season: the whoe true meaning of Christmas can be summed up in one verse.
Check it out if you desire: Luke 1:37 (read the rest of the story if you like)
