I could really use some info from others regarding a redo fundoplication.  I have had two. First one in 2001 was successful for three years until an auto accident caused a tear in my diaphram and the fundo had to be redone in 2004.  Nothing but trouble from two months after the surgery to now.  Problem is food sticks to the point I throw up.  If it does go down, it hurts awfully.  Been to a gastroenterologist. He finds ulcers in the esophagus.  Protonix did not help; insurance will not cover Nexium.  Now being seen by surgeon (best in Maine for this type surgery) and he is scaring me about redoing surgery, saying scar tissue could cause me major problems, and only have a 50-50 chance of survival. Has anyone had more than two fundos? Results??  I am scheduled for my 8th EGD in two years and the surgeon plans to implant an electrode to measure how much reflux is happening.  Then he will decide what to do. I do have another hiatal hernia as well, and what was called a Schatazki Ring  (may not be spelled correctly) in the esophagus. Thanks in advance.

Hi discouraged,

I can't give you any advice about the Fundo, I haven't had one but I wanted you to know that I'm pulling for you and praying that you will find some cure for your condition. You will find alot of support on this site.,,it's the best. We are all trying to find our way with GERD and trying to avoid surgery if we can. I believe in God (I still love those who don't and respect all opinions) and I know He loves us enough to heal us one way or another.
