Anyone here ever have bleeding ulcers and would DGL Licorice be good for them. I had an endoscope confirm two bleeding stomach ulcers in 1994 and I think they are back. Any help would be appreciated Thank you. Been on Pepcid then Zantac for years now. I think all the steroids and steroid injections (for Asthma and Osteoarthritis) might have made the ulcers come back. I see a GI Doctor on the 9th, wish me luck. Thanks

Found this for you to read.  I think you should talk to your doctor too though.
I had read on one Dr. Weil's site that DGL is similar to Zantac but without the side effects.

I really believe that DGL (dissolve 2-3 tablets slowly in mouth, this is very important to do, to combine with saliva, 20 minutes before eating anything) licorice helped me get over horrible symptoms of GERD.  It took me one month, but I was extremely disciplined and on a totally alkaline diet.  Basically a totally vegetarian diet.
Hope you will find help.

DANIE, the DGL licorice that I bought does not dissolve slowly (it needs to be chewed). Is this the wrong kind then? Or does it really matter?

Chewed is ok, just make sure it's mixed with alot of saliva as you chew and swallow.  Apparently the mix with the saliva is very important.   Also, remember another good tip is to chew cinnamon gum (cinnamon is alkaline in the stomach) after meals, increases saliva.   Trident makes it and you can find it in any supermarket.
