I have been having stomach problems for 6 yrs. My doctor has diagnosed me with Acid Reflux and Ulcers, and put me on the "purple pill". He says it is due to anxiety and stress. Everything I have read about Ulcers and A.R., does not fit me. Yes, I have a horrible burning in my esphogus and stabbing pains in my stomach, but it is often not triggered by stress or spicy foods. Sometimes, 10-12 hours after I eat I start getting this agonizing pain in what feels like my kidneys and it crawls up my back and into my lungs, while my stomach just "aches". The meds don't seem to help. THe best solution I have found is to induce vomiting, in which I vomit pure stomach acid and MAYBE  some undigested food. Once my stomach is empty the pain quickly ends and will go away for weeks, months.

So, my question is...Does anyone else with these 2 conditions have these problems? My doctor says, "It's just stress and you need to change your diet."

yes i have both for almost 7 years. i also have an anxiety disorder. i had an upper endoscopy and 2 barium x rays showing severe reflux on one barium x ray.. i don't take any meds for it. the endoscopy showed an ulcer and they took a biopsy.

what i find confusing is that the ulcer was negative for h. pylori, which causes most ulcers. so then the doc said i didn't have an ulcer?????? so what did he biopsy then?

anyway, it sometimes feels like my stomach is going to come thru my throat. i get terrible bloating on my left side and push on it with my fingers or find myself holding my stomach all day and even in my sleep. it always hurts. i also have post nasal drip which complicates it. uhhhh.

i also burp alot after eating and feel constipated a lot.

the only thing docs have found after all of this was food allergies to almost every thing. i must have an inflamed stomach or something...
