Thanks for having such a nice community here. I have been browsing before I decided to post.
I don't really have an official diagnosis because he never told me what I have is called. Here is the backstory.
I am college-aged. In May or June I went to the dr with an odd burning/ tingling at the top of my stomach (definitely not heartburn and a different kind of burning). The doctor agreed this was not normal, said something about the cells in my stomach possibly coming up my esophagus (he is foreign so I was having a hard time understanding him) and told me take Prevacid for 10 days. He gave me two sample packs of Prevacid and told me to take it and he wanted to stick a camera into my stomach if it got any worse. The Prevacid made my stomach feel like glue but it did work so I didn't go back.
However, now I have plain old heartburn. I bent over today and starting vomiting (luckily I was cleaning so I was able to grab for a paper towel in time) with no warning, simply from bending over with bad heartburn. Then I realized throughout my life, (since I was a toddler) I had a history of vomiting without nausea or me even knowing its coming until its actually there. This has resulted in a few embarassing accidents. At any rate, the heartburn has returned for a few weeks.
So, here are my questions:
1. What was my doctor talking about cells in my esophagus? I looked up Barretts Esophagitis but this doesn't seem right as I am 21.
2. Should I go back to the dr. or should I just try to find some Zantac OTC?
3. Is this vomiting with no nausea thing normal?
Thanks for taking your time to deal with a newbie, I hope soon I am able to answer some of your questions.
