Hi.  I usually don't post on this forum but I am posting for my dad who isn't comfortable with forums like this.
He has suffered w/ GERD for many years on and off and lately it's gotten much worse.  As far as I know, he;'s been on protonix, prilosec, and most other GERD meds except nexium (his insurance company will not cover it despite other treatment failures)
He is at his wits end on how to treat this.  I was wondering if anyone has foind a way to control it beyond just diet alone.  He is in so much discomfort, I feel so bad for him.  I told him to get another opinion from another gastro...  his doesn't seem to be doing much for him.  As far as I know, his endoscopies have been all normal.  I am wondering if some of it can also be stress related as he's been under much more lately, not only with his health, but with other issues as well.
You can post back or email me with any suggestions for him.  Thanks so much!!!

Hi healthseeker.. I am sorry to hear that your dad is having such a hard time with gerd.. I know for me stress can add to my gerd.. My husband is the same way. My husband also takes dgl licorice and he says it helps.. I would still push him to go to another gi.. If you bug him enough maybe he will go just to keep you off his back.. lol
