I had my gallbladder out almost 2 years ago and since like the week after surgery if I get in the least bit hungry I am in severe epigastric pain.  I had an EGD last year that showed chronic gastritis.  I do not seem to have reflux but the epigastric pain is always there as a dull ache and rears up and gets worse in severity if I am hungry even a little bit.  Today I had eaten breakfast and was okay and had a snack and about an hour after that had severe pain that lasted almost an hour and took 5 Tums to get rid of the pain (back to a dull ache like it usually is) and now I ate lunch about two hours ago and again the pain is back and had to take another Tums.  Has anyone else here experienced epigastric pain (right under the sternum mid chest).  I am at my wits end as to what to do.  My gastro doc has run every test and they all come back negative other than the EGD showing gastritis.  Can gastritis act up like this and last this long?  I do not have medical insurance at this point in time so can't call my gastro doc as have no money for a visit.  I do take Zantac every morning but it has no effect as alleving the symptoms.  Could Zantac be the cause of the problem?  Can using Zantac too long cause problems?
