I am new to this forum and am new to GERD.  My husband was diagnosed years ago & has been on Prilosec for many years - he is doing well.  I started to notice a slight burning in my throat this last December.  I am going through menopause & read that this is also a symptom.  Anyway, the throat pain comes & goes, but I also have had three bouts of waking up at night with the feeling of not being able to breath, nausea, etc.  I have tried to lead a healthy lifestyle and lost 85 pounds & kept it off for three years, but like the majority, I got lazy & the pounds (20 of them) came back on and that is when I noticed all these other issues.

I went to my PCP & diagnosed GERD, because of the symptoms & throat.  I am on Prilosec which appears to be helping & I'm watching my diet, exercising (walking), and sleeping w/my head elevated.  So far so good, but the throat still acts up during the day.

I was wondering if anyone else has this issue.  I stop eating at 7pm and as the evening progresses, the throat gets better & I have no problems with sleep or throat pain.  It will flare up again during the day after meals,"talking too much", etc.  I think the Prilosec is helping, because stomach upset/acid is much better.  So my question to anyone is - What's a good trick or idea for dealing and healing the throat?

Thanks a bunch! :-)
