As I had said in a previous post, I was on 2 aciphex a day and was still having problems with acid still breaking through if i wasn't extremely careful. After getting constipated and dealing with that and reading an article about how overdosage of these meds can cause problems, I took myself down to one pill a day. After a day or so, I've been a LOT better! I try and watch what I eat but it's not anywhere near as bad and I can have those foods once in a while that would bother me with no problem. When it does act a up a little, I've been taking those new Mylanta chewables that are suppose to be safe with RX and it takes care of it. I agree with TummyTuck that maybe it's all these pills that we're taking that's just making it worse. We'll see how the endoscopy goes and I'll keep you updated!

GavsMom,

I know the ppi's made my GERD much worse. I have been off of them for 2 weeks now and, though I still have reflux, I am much better than when I was on the pills. I found that aciphex worked really well the first couple of days but then it started to make some of my symptoms much worse. I, too, was taking it twice a day. I think the pills work really well for some people but they didn't work for me. Given that they were causing what I thought could be classified as hypergastrinemia, I figured I would be the likely candidate to get the hyperplasia and esophageal polyps from taking them.

I'm glad you have found a technique that seems to be helping. I hope it continues to work for you.
