I did a no no and had one of these chicken cesear pitas from the mall and came home feeling a bit bad, like the i was having some breakthrough acid. So i took a pepcid and two mylanta chewables and went and took a nap. I woke up two hours later feeling worse. After a couple hours sitting in my recliner, practically eating my mylanta chewable, and another pepcid, I'm still in pain. It's a really tight feeling in my chest and nothing seems to be working. My mother told me to drink a glass of hot tea, eat a piece of bread and try taking a tylenol. I've drank about half the tea and most of the bread and almost feels worse. I would take an anxiety pill, which would usually help when it gets this bad, but I just found out I was prego and it's a no no on the meds list. Anyone have any ideas of something to take or do?!?! ANYTHING?! Please help!

I've had the same symptoms many times, especially after eating something that i knew was bad for me...and nothing seems to help. The first thing I notice is that you are taking the pepcid and mylanta together. What happens is that the antacid (mylanta) will keep you from absorbing the pepcid...these are two different types of medicines... never take any drugs with antacids...this stops them from working. I hope the tea you drank was herb tea because caffiene will cause more acid. The last thing is that taking too many antacids or pepcids will in the long run cause more problems...rebounding will occur and then they don't work at all. Also, I hope you are propped up in a recliner or pillows because lying down after eating isn't good either. So what's a person to do...that's the $64,ooo question. Nothing works all the time. I've been trying to soothe my esophagus with lots of warm water and dilute the acid and maybe take some aloe very gel. Some one told me that plain pumpkin out of the can is soothing to the esophagus. Take your tylenol and wait it out if you can possibly...I know it's hard. All I know for sure is that the longer I take all these PPI's, antacids and pepcid, the worse I get. I wish I had a better answer for you.

Thanks for the advice silly. Yeah, i shouldn't of taken all that but when you're in pain, you don't always think straight! lol I was miserable the whole night, falling in and out of sleep. I have my matress raised with pillows under it so i was in an almost sitting up position. I couldn't even sleep on my side, it had to be sitting up. I ended up trying apple cider vinegar...yeah, that just made me throw up a bit! lol But i still had the rotten tasting burp. Later on in the night, i ended up throwing up again, this time just about empting my stomach, which i noticed, as gross as this sounds, chunks of food from the night before that wsn't going all the way down or something. After that, the rotten taste was gone and i was able to sleep a little longer (3 hours instead of an hour or hour in a half!). I was still filling pretty nasty the next day but I think i know the reason for that. I just found out last week that I'm pregnant and had already started waking up feeling nauseas in the mornings. I think with a mix of the gerd and morning sickness, this is going to be a hard pregnancy!
