So I have been having sharp shooting left sided chest pains the past few months. No acid reflux, no heartburn. Had an EKG, ECHO and chest xray-all came back okay. My doctor was sure I had GERD. So he put me on Aciphex. My symptoms went away for the most part the past three weeks but have slowly started to come back over the past few days....has anyone else had this happen? Meaning, symptoms have gotten a little better while on meds and then started to somewhat come back?
Still very nervous that I DONT have GERD seeing as my only symptoms is sharp/quick/shooting chest pains.
Feedback please!! eyes

I have GERD, and I've been on PPIs for 4+ years now.  The meds work very well, but the GERD symptoms wax and wane constantly.  Sometimes, the aciphex I take takes care of the symptoms completely (actually  most times it does), but I routinely have breakthrough acid.  Therefore, I supplement the aciphex with zantac every night before lying down, and with rolaids/tums throughout the day on an as needed basis.

You can always experiment a bit by stopping the PPI for a while and seeing if the symptoms dramatically increase, and then start taking it again to see if the symptoms go away.

I think that if your symptoms got better with Aciphex, you may still have GERD. Did the symptoms started to come back after stopping Aciphex or while you were on it?
