Everyone knows we are to avoid wearing tight-fitting garments with GERD. (They increase pressure on the abdomen, which can open the esophageal sphincter when it should be shut.)  Does anyone else's stomach feel like a balloon ready to pop?  Everything feels too tight; I would like to do some exercises to strengthen it.  I wonder if my growing stomach has an effect on the LES sphincter....

Yes!  I have horrible bloating, all of my pants are too tight.  I thought it was weight gain from the Prevacid.  My abdomen is so swollen, like you said, it's like a balloon.

I've always had the bloating. Some get it with GERD. I went off Prevacid and it went away, but then it came back. I went back on Prevacid and it went away; that was weeks ago and I haven't had trouble with it since.

yea I got a very good abs right now..

but that's after I lost 20 pounds over last year... fighting GERD.. and trying to end it all..

I hope it works out. I had a beer gut before but now it's all gone since I stopped drinking as well, it's been 6 months since i stopped drinking, but I still have GERD, it's not cured yet. No Heartburn symptoms but haven't gotten off nexium yet.

I just scanned the article recommended by Cathy A today. It mentions increased intraabdominal pressure as a possible contributing factor to GERD.

I am skinny but my stomach feels tight as a drum, ready to pop. Sit-ups are not advised, but maybe leg raises...?

Hi All,

I have not beeen here for years, so I hope I can ask if anyone feels that stressing over the day's political and
daily living concerns might cause them to experience more gastric problems...

If so, does the ever-changing price of gas cause you any problem with gerd?
