I had my endoscopy yesterday and it went well. Found a hiatal hernia and some esophagitis. Doc changed my meds from Nexium (80mg/day was doing nothing) to Zegerid. My insurance is giving me a hard time (they won't even pay for Nexium) and this medicine is about $251 for a month's supply (2 pills a day) but hopefully are going to approve it. Anyway, I took one pill yesterday at 1pm after my scope and then again as regular this morning. I feel a ton better! The acid reflux is almost nothing to minimal and the 'lump sensation' in my throat is gone. Could be I'm having a good day or (praying) that this med is making an immediate difference, which my doc said would happen. Wondering what others' experiences are with it.

Glad to hear something is helping!!! I had a bottle of Zegerid but never tried it because it says on the RX information sheet not to use it with calcium.  I have osteopenia and take quite a bit of calcium throughout the day.  Zegerid has the same ingredient as Prilosec and contains sodium biocarbonate which is the same as baking soda.
