Hello id like to introduce myself, im 34 year old female, and have found this site through desperation! My baby is four months old now and pregnany has given me GERD.  I never even hardly had heartburn before and the pain increase during the pregnancy and has been WORSE since hving him! im waiting for an endoscopy and am very depressed, i already have a chronic bladder condition which i developed less than two years and am often in a lot of pain with it now i have got another lovely disease!  iwas on ranitadine, it didnt do much so the doc changed me to Laorozole (sp!) twice a day but i am still in pain with a chronic sore throat! i just wonder if there was anyone out there whos pregnancy caused theirs? i had quite a large BumP but i never thought i would be permanantly damaged!

Yes, pregnancy and GERD are not strangers. With the added space the baby takes up, stomach contents you be pushed up easier. Everyone! Please check the more official sites, which even with as much info as they have, they still can not replace a doctor's advise, a Gastroenterogical specialist. But go to internet, type in "medical information" search, go to Mayo Clinic, Merck, Medline Plus, and then enter GERD or heartburn, they will give you several sites to visit, check it out. At least pregnancy GERD if over with the pregnancy. Many people would switch places with you. Just avoid garlic, onions, bell peppers, and greasy foods, like pizza and really, really buttered popcorn. You'll actually feel better this way anyway, and the baby will get good nutritional foods. You're young, everything seems like forever, you have many beautiful days, weeks, months, years, and decades in front of you. When you wake up in the morning, just think, how many wonderful experiences and people will I have today yeah You have a beautilful baby on the way, what a wonderful gift!
Please be happpy, life is long, a good attitude will take you far and maybe you'll get there in good shape!
