I am currently taking Prevacid with some benefits but still have upset stomach most of the time. I am wondering if anyone knows if anything works better than Prevacid, possibly Nexium?

Thanks

I don't think anyone can answer this. It varies from person to person. For me they worked about the same.

And also contributed equally, IMO, to the severe illness that resulted from years on this stuff. Be careful. And when you start to develop seemingly unrelated symptoms after being of this stuff for a long time, don't assume, as I did, that it's not the PPIs.

Lenny66 what illness are you referring to?

Thanks for your opinion.

Check the thread I started a couple days ago for more detail. I took PPIs for 10 years. I had symptoms for most of the 10 and it got really awful last July. Unfortunately, I didn't realize it was the PPIs until I went through a lot of suffering.

My advice to all is just to do your best to manage GERD without PPIs. Some won't be able to but I certainly would have done without them had I knows the consequences.

Thanks Lenny, I have read this thread (http://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=45&m=808939) and will continue to read on. I think it is worthwhile making people aware of the long term complications in taking any medication. Thanks for the insite.

dear Chronic --- there a lot of studies in the medical literature demonstrating the NEXIUM is superior to Prevacid in the healing of Erosive Esophagitis as well as control of pH > 4 over 24 hours.

hope this helps!
