Rolaids and Tums are perfectly acceptable, and in may cases warranted, when you're pregnant. Tums, at least, also serves as a calcium supplement, so it can only help a pregnancy. I know when I was pregnant, the acid reflux and heartburn was intolerable; I eventually started taking OTC zantac/rantidine. It's classifed as a B drug, which means it is safe for pregnancy. I wouldn't recommend that your daughter just take it, though, until she runs it by her OB. My GI doctor told me after the pregnancy, that it would have been perfectly fine to take a PPI during pregnancy, but again that is something that would need to be cleared by an OB. I'm sure there are natural and herbal supplements that your daughter can take as well, but I was always hesitant to take those supplements during pregnancy because they don't really have much research on them (which is why they're not FDA regulated).
