Any reason why my GERD gives me the most problems when I have an empty stomach? If I go too long without eating, I get reflux into my throat / larynx.

refluxsux (great name!) - I have the same problem! My GERD is many times worse if I don't have food in my stomach. I don't know why, but it is.

I also find that when I am too tired I have worse GERD too. Compound that with an empty stomach and I'm miserable :(

Those are great points.  I got GERD/LPR from not eating for a long time.  PLUS, my upstairs neighbors are soooo noisy that I NEVER sleep.  This could very well be why I"m never getting better!!!

stomach pain that gets worse when empty is indicative of gastritis/ulcers, especially if when you do eat something little, you feel better.  I have erosive gastritis/esophagitis and that's one of my symptoms.  Erosive gastritis is one step below an ulcer(s).  I find that when I feel like that, eating something low carb and high in protein helps a great deal (a small slice of cheese, for example).  Later on, when my stomach has calmed down a bit I might eat a bit more.

El - many thanks for that info! I'm pretty sure I have a severe case of gastritis. Your info gives me more confidence in that thought.
