Hey guys! I'm over from the UC board. I get acid reflux that causes me horrible nausea. I called my GI and he okayed Prilosec OTC. I read on the box to only take 14 days at a time. Can I keep taking it? Or only do 14 days? Thanks!

100mg Azathioprine, 2 Fibercon, Colazal-9 a day (attempting to cut this down to 6 by slowly tapering), acidopholis pearls, just added Prilosec OTC

Hello Tabitha:
Prilosec OTC (omeprazole magnesium 20 mg) can be taken for longer than 14 days, with your doctor's approval.  In fact, some people are on the prescription dosage (20-40 mg daily, generally) as a maintenance medication.  I have taken it for at least 2 years now.  If you have prescription insurance, however, get a prescription for it - it will probably be cheaper for the month's supply than the $25 typical cost for the over-the-counter version.
