Does anyone else have trouble burping? I have had GERD for a while now and I always feel like I have to belch but I can't let the air out?  What muscle controls that?  I am thinking there might be something wrong with it.

I don't know what the deal is but I have the exact same thing.  I am so frustrated by all of my reflux/esophagus problems.  I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you, I wish I did.

Alexy, isn't it frustrating!!!!  I have so much air and I can feel and hear it come up but it's like once it gets to a certain point, it doesn't come out.  I did a google search on the inablility to belch and all I got was some site saying to stick your pointer finger and index finger down on the back of your tongue and push your neck forward.  I have tried that and nothing.  I feel the air go back down into a my stomach.  It just keeps coming back up and eventually subsides until I drink or eat something again.  Are you going to ask your doctor about this?

I already brought it up to my doc, who is holistic.  And he said I was probably having esophageal spasms.  I really screwed myself by getting myself all worked up over my reflux, thinking it was something more, and now I can't get my problems to go away.  I hope they do, eventually but we will see.  I'd like to have a motility study done, but my doctor doesn't seem to think it is necessary.  But I would like to have one for my piece of mind.  Hope you get some relief.
