It's looking like the only solution for my LPRD is Nissen Fundoplication surgery. The problem however, is that I'm both unemployed, uninsured, and unable to work. I've been trying to get declared disabled for a while due to mental health issues and have been rejected twice. I don't know how I would ever pay for the procedure without Medicaid. Can anyone at least give me a ballpark figure of how much this procedure could cost me?

Thanks

This is just a wild guess, but maybe $8,000 to $10,000 when you consider the surgeon, hospital, anesthesia, lab work, medications, x-rays, radiologist to read x-rays, pathologist, etc.  You get billed for so many different things that you don't even think of.  Like I said, this is a wild guess.  Maybe someone else will come along who has had it done more recently.  My surgery was a couple of years ago, I had good insurance and I don't remember what the total cost was.

Also, have you gone through any of the test they have you go through before they will agree to do the surgery?  I don't mean to discourage you, but trying to give you all the facts.

Good luck to you!

Which tests? I've had an EGD scope, a barium xray, Ph test, manometry, and stomach emptying scan.

It sounds like you have had all the tests.  Did they tell you that you needed the surgery?  If so, I would start by asking the surgeon how much his fee will be.

Haven't gotten the results back from the GES test yet, I'll discuss it when I see my doc again.
