Nausea vs Heartburn

Hello Everybody,

Does anyone experience NAUSEA caused by GERD as opposed to heartburn?

The reason I'm asking: I experience nausea as well as heartburn from GERD, which is why it took over one year -- and over four anti-nauseant prescriptions -- to get the diagnosis of GERD. I was finally sent for an Upper GI Series after experiencing an episode of severe heartburn. The Upper GI Series revealed "marked esophageal reflux disease"...

Two years later, I still get nausea from the GERD, so I take baking soda and water to alleviate it. I am currently taking Prevacid 30 mg twice daily.

The pharmacist said that the nerves in the esophagus that cause heartburn are the same nerves in the stomach that cause nausea.

Oh, I definately get nauseated!!!!! I thought that I was the only one.  My mouth gets watery and I just feel like I could throw-up.  My nausea was so bad at one point that as soon as I would eat something, I felt like I was going to vomit.   I went almost a full month dealing with life like that, that I ended up being diagnosed with gastroparesis not much long after.  I think the lack of eating played a role in it.  That's interesting what your pharmacist said though...makes sense.

I'm having similar nausea from what I believe to be GERD (Everything else ruled out). How is that prevacid working for you? Still nauseous?
