hi everyone im really glad i found this forum and need some help. for the least 8 weeks i have felt extreme nausea. i did the standard zanatc 75 2x a day ( then 150 2x a day) which helped a bit. i  finally went to see my regular doc who sent me to a GI. i had an endoscopy, sonogram, CAT (CT) scan all done with everything coming back normal. finally my GI thought it may be stress related though i highly doubt it. anyway i was given a few sample of a drug called zegerid. now while i know i wasnt supposed to the first day i took it twice, one in the evening and the 2nd at night and for the next day i felt 100% back to normal, however i started getting the nausea back 2 days after this drug and the doc told me i cant take zegerid 2x. he suggested 1 zegerid at night and  1 nexium in the morning ( both at 40mg). basiclym just looking for some advice, has anyway ever experinced prolonged nausea, hte last 2-3 weeks i started getting chest pain and actually acid reflux but the zegerid defintly took that away but my nausea is still with me? also anyone know any good anti nausea meds ( i tried dramamine which works a little) but im looking to getting back to life and not just limping along. thanks for all your help

Hello bundi, and welcome to healingwell.

First off, I want to say I am sorry you are feeling a bit lousy right now. I cannot stand feeling nausiated!

I just checked in here quickly right now to see if anyone new had left a post. I quickly looked up meds for nausea, but got no real good results. I have to help my son with his homework, but will be on later tonight, and can try to get a better answer for you.

I have not personally had a lot of experience with prolonged nausea, excpet when I was pregnant, in which case, I found saltine crackers to be helpful. Have you tried that for some relief? It doesn't work for everyone...but maybe it is something you can try.

Have you expressed to your doctor how bad this is actually for you?

I will be along later, hopefully with a better answer, and hopefully others will be along with some insight on this for you.

Again, welcome to healingwell. Feel free to read old posts for some information as well. It can be helpful!!

i appreacite the quick reply and will wait for anybody to help. just as something id like to mention is a link
. which at the bottom basicly states that in some patients ( like myself) nausea can be much more severe than the "heartburn" though no one seems to know why. i am just wondering if anyone else has had this experience or any suggestions

Hi all.  I too am a frequest nausea sufferer.  I have H. Pylori, which I am taking meds for right now, as well as GERD, and a bunch of other crap, but the nausea is from those two things.  I don't know of any anti-nausea meds really, just dramamine, which makes me sleep and very grumpy, so that is out!  Now the acid blockers I am on has helped in that department, but not 100%.  Two nights ago I had major nausea, I think I ate too late.

Here is what I do for the nausea and the heartburn.  I am sure you have heard it all before, but just wanted to post and make you feel that you are not alone!  I eat bland, very bland foods, no alchohol, no chocolate (that almost kills me!) NO caffeine, no tomatoes, you get the idea.  I eat very small meals throughout the day, which can be difficult for most people, but I am a stay at home mom, so no probs there.  I go to bed around 10:00 at night, so I do not eat after 6:30, and if I do, I pay for it, all night long.  I did that two nights ago and I took two Gravol and they did nothing to help, didn't even knock me out.  I just felt so sick all night, it was hell.  I don't like acid in my mouth, I really don't like heartburn, but I can not take the nausea, so I am with you on that and feel for you.  I have two children and never once did I have a moment of "morning sickness," or I would have stopped at one kid!!  I have so much respect for any woman who goes through nausea while pregnant, it is the worst.

If anyone knows of a good anti-nausea med, let us know!  I weigh about 93 lbs. because of my nausea, and need to gain at least 10 lbs!

Brenda K:  That is exactly how I feel.  I am down to 90 lbs because I am so nauseated all the time.  I keep telling my doctor but he is reluctant to put me on any meds.  Some good meds for nausea are compazine, zofran, phenergan.  These are all perscription of course.  I have gone to walmart and baught is liquid syrup for seems to help.  Follow the directions exactly though.

I have an endoscopy scheduled for the 12th so I am curious to see if something is going on in there.  If I miss one pill of my Nexium...I am on 80 mgs a day...I can feel it.  I get dizzy (does anyone experience that?), the lump in the throat, nausea of course, and burning stomach.

I hate, hate this...I would love to have that surgery nissan fundo.  for the GERD.

Hope everyone is having a good evening!

Hello Everyone,
Nausea, Yikes! I suffered with nausea 4-5 months straight, and around the clock while carrying my child 15 yrs ago. Tried all the expensive meds and all the old fashion remedies I knew of and nothing worked but popcorn. Yes, Popcorn! Irnonically, my child loves POPCORN...What living hell I was in, and like you, lost weight Notice I indicated only having one child. LOL Seriously, the nausea was so bad at times that I would actually lie on the floor for some relief because being on the bed was just too high and miserable. Oh, and I drank quite a bit of Gatorade(sipped)because that's the only thing I could tolerate.

K, never have to live through that again with pregnancy...Anyway, I still sometimes experience the nausea, burning stomach & dizziness, Apple Cider Vinegar provides the best relief for me during these times. Careful what meds you use to relieve symptoms, as our stomachs are obviously over-sensitive, possibly making symptoms worse.

Try Boost or Ensure to help with weight gain if your stomach can tolerate it. These things helped me with weight gain a couple of yrs ago after exp weight loss from nausea/dizziness and other health symptoms.

Hope everyone's symptoms subsides soon.......
