Hi there.

Just over a month ago, I started having these chains, which would be sharp and last for around 30secs or so and then go away. I also seem to burp a lot and always have a bloated stomach. I have been to the doc and asked him if I could possibly have some sort of heart disease. There is no family history on this.

I had a full count blood test done, ECG as well as a chest x-ray. Everything came out normal and doc said there was nothing wrong with the heart. I haven't been to a specialist.

The pain is based around where the heart is and once in a while the pain drifts to the right on wide left but most around the heart. Anyone else had this sort of problem before ?? I am starting to worry if its something bigger than just a gas problem. I am still having this same problem.

If anyone could tell me how I could get rid of this, would really appreciate it.

Hi there Prat, and welcome to healingwell. I am sorry you are suffering!

Since you had extensive testing on your heart, I can say you can at least relax that this isn't coming from your heart. That is a good thing.

It is very likely that your problem is just gas, as gas can do some crazy things to your body. You said you have been to your doctor, so has he given you any meds, or made any suggestions on what you can do for this?

There are a number of meds, and of course you could watch your diet, and exercise. Things like that. I am curious to see what your doctor had to say.

Also, has he suggested you go to a GI, because that to me would seem like the logical next step...since your heart has checked out.

I would like to extend a warm welcome to you. Feel free to post whenever you want, and look back at old posts, as they may be able to answer some questions you may be having. I am looking forward to getting to know you better. I hope others willl be along soon with some thoughts for you.

Have a wonderful day.

Hi Tammy

No the doctor didn't give me much advice. All he said was (as you mentioned) to get into some regular exercise. He gave me Losec to help with my digestion. But apart from that nothing. Also I was wondering if I should go to a heart specialist, or would the ECG have picked up anything if there was a problem ?

And no he didn't mention anything about GI !!

Also I have been sweating quite a bit of late. Could this be gas related as well or something more to do with heart patients?

Once again thanks for all your help Tammy. Really appreciate it.

Have a great day.

Hey there again Prat. Sorry I haven't been checking the board much lateley, have a lot going on!

I think you need a visit with the GI, as this could definately be gas related. I would start there before the cardiologist, to be honest with you. You mentioned having an ECG...when was that?

How thrilled are you about your current GP? I get the feeling it may be time for a change there. IT seems to me he is ignoring something that needs attention. This is my opinion, and I hope I am not offending you.

I hope you start to feel better soon. Please, keep us posted about what heppens.

Wishing you all the best.

Hey Tammy ... well  had the ECG done around a month back. For the last 3 days I have once again started taking Losec tablets and the pain seems to be going away now. Well my doctors alrite I guess. Cause like he did all the main basic tests and everything and I guess there was nothing to suggest to him that I required specialist attention.

Well for now I am feeling better.. not burping as much as well. Let's hope it continues this way, otherwise I'll go see him again.

Thanks for your help Tammy.

No problem Prat. I hope you feel comfortable to stick around here and ask more questions, should you have any. Also, feel free to check old posts to see if they can help you out any.

That is great that your doctor did a lot of testing on you, I guess I just wish he'd suggest visiting a GI.

Although, you say you are feeling better now. That is great. I too hope that continues.

Wishing you all the best!

Don't know if you've been to a gastroenterologist yet or not, but that's the next place you should go to. You have just described perfectly the symptoms of a gallbladder attack - do a search on the internet for gallbladder symptoms and you'll find what you described listed. I didn't realize what the painful episodes I have been experiencing were until I ended up at the ER last week 2 weeks post op from a Nissen fundoplication. I thought there was a problem post surgery as did the surgeon. When they checked my blood, they found the gallbladder enzymes were out of whack. Turns out that in addition to severe GERD, my gallbladder has been acting up. Gallbladder pain is similar to esophageal muscle spasms which is why we never did any gallbladder testing before - we thought everything was esophagus related.

I'm not saying you do have a gallbladder problem, but I am saying that I've been the route of thinking I had a cardiac problem when all along it was a digestive problem. My family physician wasn't able to diagnose anything - he also went the route of cardiac tests because I have a history of hypertension. Life got sweeter when I began seeing a gastroentologist.

Not sure if you're still checking on this older post, but thought I'd give you some info to chew on in case you are.

Good luck.

Dear Prat_33,
Reading through your first post, i couldnt help but say "Im not alone", since im going through more or less the same things you described & yes as a starter i thought my heart is failing and im only 30yrs. So, i went through a complt heart checkups like ECG, ECHO, ETT(Stress Test) & Blood Cholestrol test, everything came back normal. Have been to the ER twice with chest pain & palps, but both times ECG ruled out the heart thing. So, finally went back to doctor with all reports, he suggested checking the blood for thyroid, that im yet to get done. But I posted in Anxiety forum and a friend there has talked about Gall Bladder in reply, and here as i see HappilyWrapped is talking about the samething, this cant be coninc. So next visit to my Doc which i hope i'll do something soon, i'll forsure bring this Gall Bladder topic up and have it checked. Will let you know what happens than.
Meanwhile, quit worrying about your heart, I know i did, and now feel much better, Thanks God i found this place HW, its the greatest thing which could have happened when i was feelin down.

So cheer up, get through the tests and keep us posted, since I MUST KNOW since im going through the same.

God bless you all, and may we all find LASTING HEATLH & PEACE.

Best regards,

Arfa

Hi Prat--if your chest pains come back, read through my posts. I have had the same and went through the same heart tests. My doctor diagnosed me with GERD, gave me meds, pain went away, then pain came back with a vengence about 4-5 wks ago. Finally going to get an endo on Wed.

If your pain comes back, definately talk to a doctor...if its GERD or acid related it may progress quickly if left untreated...

Hi Prat,
Its been a while since i wrote to you, Im wondering if there has been ANY development with you and have you found any answers, since as for me the situation is pretty much the same, but one thing is forsure, after all the tests and now recently the X-rays i personally have concluded that its just GAS issue, but still someone really needs to tell me, how can gas which is mostly is in intenstines can travel all the way up to chest around ones heart and cause pain there. Still is a mystery to me.
Please do post back and report on any new developments. Im planing to see my Doc in a couple of weeks with the recent test results, which are TFT thyroid func. test and a couple of xrays of chest and spinal column.
God bless you, will look out for your reply.
Best regards,

Arfa
