Hello,

I am not new to HW, but this is my 1st time posting here.  I have a question, for some reason my heartburns/reflux have been acting up the last few weeks.  I guess my anxiety level  has been higher than usual.

My question is I have to drink a lot of water with one of my meds that I am taking, but the water giving me reflux, especially in the last 2-3 weeks.  The amount of water I drink is nothing new.  This mostly happens at night, and I was wondering what I can do to prevent this.  I do not take anything on a daily basis, but sometimes take some rolaids/tums and they seem to help a little.

It was a little surprising that I was having this because it has not happend for a while.  I have been dealing with Gerd since 2001 and used to deal with it all the time.  But for a short moment until now, I guess I had a small break.

Thanks for your response.

Olivia,

Can you restricted the amount of water you drink before bed if that is when your experiencing the reflux.  I usually only have reflux when laying down.

Before sleeping, spend a few moments at a window and do some deep breathing, inhaling and exhaling deeply.

This will energize your nervous system and can assist in the prevention of GERD if the other measures are also followed.  Tough question. eyes I am sure others will have great ideas.

Take care

Kitt

Thanks for the input Kitt, and yes, this is a tough question. By the way, hi there Olivia!

Like I said, this is a tough question, and the fact of the matter is, other than what Kitt said, I have no idea. I hope others will be along soon to help you out.

Wishing you all the best!

Hello miss Olivia...I think maybe that if you try to take any meds an hour or so before you go to bed then maybe that will give you time to relax before lieing down. Just a  suggestion. I am on Nexium every day for I have very serious erosion of the esophogeus. I must watch what I eat and more importantly, at least for me, how much I eat. I cant eat large meals anymore..and not before bed eat much of anything . If i come up with anything else I will let you know. Love ya hun ...take care,

Annie

Thank you all for the response, I am sorry for the tough question. Maybe I will try not to drink too much in the evening, especially before bed. That might help. Again, thank you.
