Just for everyone's information, I decided to post some of the most common symptoms of GERD...The symptoms are NOT limited to the ones I list, but these are some of the most common symptoms...
The main symptom of GERD is a frequent uncomfortable feeling of burning, warmth, heat, or pain just behind the breastbone, commonly referred to as HEARTBURN. The burning sensation caused by GERD usually occurs after eating.
A sour or bitter taste in your mouth. That is from the backflow of stomach acids and juices into your esophogus.
Excessive saliva.
Difficulty swallowing. (this is more common in your advanced stages of GERD.)
Chest pains...it can be a dull, heavy discomfort that spreads across the chest. It may occur with heartburn, and may be confused with chest pains of a heart attack. If you are having chest pains and are in doubt...SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION AT ONCE.
Nausea...common in the morning.
May have hoarseness.
Again, please note, these aren't the only things that suggest GERD, but some of the more common symptoms. And please, if you are having chest discomfort that you have never felt, or you are unsure, SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION AT ONCE.
I thought it might be a good idea to post this for some of our new friends who may be wondering if their symptoms could be GERD.
Please, if anyone has any other symptoms they think should be added, post away!
