Howdy. Last night around 7:30 while eating I suddenly got the sensation that there was food trapped in my throat, I've had this before and when it occured it lasted through the night. This time, it dident end. This morning my chest still felt like there was something trapped in it and I havent been able to swallow anything, no liquids or solids. Every time I try I get that crushing feeling followed by the urge to belch, which usually brings it all back up. I also produce this foamy saliva from my throat when reguritating.

It's been a whole day since I've eaten or drank, and Im getting really, really worried. I saw the doc today and he told me to get scoped as soon as possible, which is thursday. My dad keeps trying to give me things to eat because he's under the notion that Im just not trying hard enough.

I've got dry mouth, and a very faint lightheadedness.

Does anyone have any advice?

Hi Derg

Not being able to swollow is one thing but not being able to keep fluids down is another. I would personally go to the emergancy we most certainly need fluids in our bodies.

Hopefully now you are able to swollow & feel better.

I have never experienced not being able to drink, but as you have been to the doctors surely if he thought you was so so bad he would have adviced you to go to the emergency.

Take care
Red

Hello Derg...and welcome to healingwell. I am sorry you are feeling so bad.

As Red said, I would personally go to the ER, as it isn't normal to not be able to swallow liquid.

Also, you do not want to dehydrate, as that could be a dangerous situation. The fact that you are feeling faint, and lightheaded is from lack of nutrients going to your body. That is to be expected when you aren't eating or drinking.

I would suggest calling your family doctor, and seeing if you can get a same day appointment, and if you cannot, then head to the ER. You need to get this figured out before it gets to serious.

Something isn't right here.

Wishing you the best...and please, keep us posted as to how you are doing!

Stick around, cuz this is a great place for information, and support!

Hey ,

Derg I and many other Healingwell members have expierience the same symptoms. I lost alot of weight from it. The cause of this is from acid reflux and a lil bit of anxiety . . . Do you suffer from either or ?

GiftOfGod, it is great that you put your input in, but my concern is that he can't swallow even liquids, and I fear he will dehydrate. I don't want him to just say that this is from GERD, and live life. I want to assure he seeks help for this.

I appriciate you giving your thoughts, and comforting him by saying that you have dealt with the same thing...I just want to assure he knows he should seek some help for this.

Thanks for you input hun!
