Hi guys,

I found this website last night...I have not been well for some time now been suffering from excess gas and pain in my left side of my chest particularly my heart, under my left arm pit and sometimes down my left arm.  I also suffer from pains in between my shoulder blades.

The pains vary ...sometimes they are like indigestion (like i have eaten too many potatoes too quickly?! sensation) and sometimes like i just need a good burp to release the pressure!

After googling my symptoms and coming across GERD i think it is what i have.  I have been so stressed lately thinking i was dying....have had no appetite, had the shakes, nausea, vomitting..etc...i do think i also suffer from anxiety also though.

I went to see my doctor on Monday who had no idea so sent me for a load of blood tests which i should have the results on Friday/X-Mas eve.  I also took myself to ER yesterday because the pains were particularly in my heart..they done an ECG trace but said everything was perfectly normal and gave me pain killers!.

The doctor has prescribed me omeprezole which i have been taking for 3 days and today i have tried to follow a diet recommended for GERD suffers and as of yet i have no symptoms!! yay!!

The only problem is...and im wondering if anyone else has these symptoms...i have a very 'groggy' head. very tired, lethagic almost like im a bit drunk!? and a headache (that could be the caffeine withdrawal though)....so does anyone else suffer from this tired, groggy sensation in their head??

Thanks guys and thank you for your previous posts which have calmed me down so much and made me feel less a lone with this suffering!

Hello

You are the 1st person I have seen with pain in your shoulder blades.....I have pain in my shoulder blades more a burning sensation which effects my neck, I also went to the emergancy as the pain went to my left arm & made my hand numb. I do have Gerd but was told my esophagus was red & inflammed which at 1st sight the doctor thought it was Barretts but biopsies showed no barretts. I have been prescibed to different ppi's which at the moment no sign of releif & I have pain all day the only releif i get is when I am sleeping for some reason it does not effect me of a night. I am glad you have releif but if continues I would be persistant & request an endescope because mine is just getting worst hoping the doctor will give me some good advise on Friday.

Good luck
Red

Hello there acheekymunky, and welcome to HEALINGWELL. I am happy you have found us, but I am sorry you are suffering so much. I see you have already found great comfort in some of our previous posts, and that is great.

What you are feeling could very well be from GERD, and the fact that your heart checked out ok is great. You can now go at a more leasurley pace to find out what the problem is. I would strongly suggest you be persistant in having your doctor find out what the problem is.

You mention you have high anxiety as well. How long has that been going on? Do you take any meds or get any therapy for that? Anxiety can make your body feel all sorts of different sensations, including pains of all kinds. We have a board here at HEALINGWELL for anxiety issues. Maybe you can journey over there and check out some of those old posts as well. They are rather friendly over there, as I have anxiety issues, and spend much time over there.

Again, we are happy to have you, and I hope you find the help you need. Please, stick with us, and keep us posted on your condition.

Wow thanks guys you are all so welcoming!!

I have been doing the GERD diet for two days now and i am happy to say my symptoms do feel somewhat relieved although this could also be the omeprozole taking effect too. I have cut out tea and chocolate and to be honest that was my main diet, had slight twinges in my heart and arms yesterday and between my shoulders when i woke up but not had the 'indegestion' sensation i was suffering terrible with last week.

Well i will keep you posted guys....hopefully blood results back tomorrow if not monday. Hope you are all well and thanks again for the welcome!
