I am having a really bad flare up of my psoriasis and the question I have is bathing! Water, even tepid with Epson salts makes it worse, I have tried cast protectors and they don't work well can't seem to find anything out there to protect my hands and feet when I bathe, anyone have and ideas?

U r absolutely right about water. My derm explained to me that P. Leaves open sores for contaminants to enter our skin and body. It like taking a bath in chemicals....was his quote ...YUK !
Water is full of any contaminants from tap & well water . We have every filter possible on our water system.

First to bathe when hands & feet r sore ...I seal my hands and feet with Vaseline. I sit on a shower stool available at stores and wrap my feet a sock & in suran wrap or self stick wrap....and a Baggie tapped with water proof tape..easy simple. Hands Vaseline first.then I wear simple latex or rubber gloves over cotton gloves...seal each with tape. Any good heavy moisturizer will do. Even kitchen duties I pass on or of to others if cotton gloves with plastic over do do the trick.
Once the hands and feet heal then it a quick in and out shower and always spray skin so soft oil on. Then nightly cream on hands and feet .. Sometimes a need for occlusion is necessary until Hands, Feet heal..it takes a few weeks until they r healed so stick with it u will see results.

Thank you so much for all the helpful information, I did find the waterproof tape and my hubby taped my feet in plastic which helped :)

It is adviced to take short shower with lukewarm water. And apply lotion when skin is still moist.

This is by no means a cure, nor am I a Doctor. First of all, I am very new and working my way through the threads one by one. I am covered head to toe in scaly, itching psoriasis. Some days I just want to not get out of bed but I always do...
I just wanted to suggest this. I have had this disease since 1985 and it first started on my face. Unfortunately, I was a stewardess for 20 years and this affliction did not bode well with the supervisors.
After three years of constant prednisone and steroid shots, my joints started to deteriorate.
Anyway, it came back full force 2 years ago. I have tried all the ointments (thin the skin), steroids (make me crazy and it comes back worse). Now until August when I get Medicare, I am on methotrexate and folic acid along with Zoloft and thyroid meds. I am so frustrated because you really have to be your own advocate with Doctors and Pharmacies these days.
The point of this post was to let Judith know that I have been soaking in Dead Sea Salt for about two weeks. It gives me 20 minutes of relief. I ordered it on Amazon. This is not a cure by any means just wanted to reach out and let you know I feel your pain. Try it if you wish.. I am not a Doctor and I am not cured by any means. You have to make sure you are completely dry (I use a hair blower on low) and then apply a cream not an ointment. This is just my humble opinion and I am still searching.
Best of luck! Best thing I ever came across was this forum.

My psoriasis is predominantly on my face and neck - not the best location. Sometimes in the middle of a flare my face will start to burn and tingle like a first degree burn. This doesn't surprise me, since it gets regular applications of a salicylic acid face wash, topical coal tar and steroid cream. In desperation one day, I pulled out my trusty tube of A&D ointment. It is a mild ointment which has cod live oil as its source of the vitamins. I knew both vitamins A and D are reported to be beneficial, and I knew we always in the hospital used A&D for babies' diaper rash. I applied it generously to my face, and it eased the burning and itching very quickly. The following day, the worst red spots were lighter. My dermatologist has me using steroids only three days a week, so I use the A&D ointment the other days. I seem to have less large flakes being shed, and less itching and burning.
