I am glad you were able to see the dr on the comp claim. I have a question, what kind of a dr did you see today, a specialist or what? Also, did this dr see a copy of your old MRI report today?
Your old MRI showed nerve involvment on the right side which correlates with the right sided hip pain. I hope some PT will get this to calm down. I really think this dr owes you the courtesy of repeating your MRI for comparison views to see if this disc herniation has changed, you did have a fragment floating-thats not good. Also it showed compression which means a pinched nerve, No, I am not a dr, however, I have over 20yrs experience reading these MRI & CT reports. And I will further disagree with this dr., MRI's are used as a diagnosticc tool, not just for people going to have surgery, this dr is way off base. The dr is obviously interested in saving the comp carrier some money.
One thing I would like to caution you about and I am not trying to scare you either. When a nerve becomes damaged if a person waits too long to have the problem corrected, many times the damage becomes permanent and irreversible. In surgeries to correct a pinched or compressed nerve, the surgeon does not do anything except try to relieve the pressure off the nerve by decompressing it, or trimming away some disc material if that is what is compromsing the nerve. Nerves have to heal on their own, either they will heal or they won't.
I do not know what kind of care you received prior to this onset of hip pain, but I do not feel any of your drs ever fully explained to you the findings on your MRI. Your MRI is significant for abnormalities. I hope you get to feeling better.
