sorry to hear about
your ankles. Since a recreational game of basketball I nearly destroyed my entire leg, rolling the ankle so badly that it damaged my knee. Unless you've been in an accident recently I don't see why the ankle would start to hurt. I still deal with regular pain, but it's nowhere near what it once was. I would recommend getting Xrays done to rule out any structural damage. After getting a surgery done to correct it only to find out it wasn't 100% necessary is not something you want to go through with as well. Then of course rest, regular physical therapy, and patience. A quality ankle brace
will help stabilize your ankle so you aren't worried about
its weakness or clicking sounds you described.
