Hi Everyone, Newbie here searching for help. I have been diagnosed by my GP and an orthopedic Dr. as having hip bursitis. This happened a few months ago and after a cortisone shot and a bit of time pain eventually got much better. However it returned about 2 months ago with a vengeance. My GP referred me to an orthopedic and they both agree it is bursitis of the hip. The orthopedic dr. gave me a cortisone injections as close to the most painful spot as possible last Thursday. As of yet, no relief. He said it might take a few days, so I am praying I will feel relief soon. I can't take any type of NSAID'S due to previous issues with them causing bleeding ulcers. Does anyone have any suggestions, input, etc.? Any advice. thoughts or prayers, much appreciated...thanks in advance. I suppose my most important question is, if you had a cortisone shot for this, how long before you felt relief. I am praying it has not been long enough yet.

I've been dealing with bursitis of the hip for the past 7-8 years. I have only had 1 injection, but was too long ago that I don't remember how well it worked or how long it took to get relief. I can go several months with no problems, then all of a sudden it will flare-up. I have just learned to take it easy when I have a flare-up. My orthopedic doctor said there are exercise videos for bursitis of the hip on utube that could be helpful. I can't do them because they require lying on the floor and I have back issues that prevent me from doing that. I don't think I'm much help for you, but I hope you will get relief soon.
