Welcome to HealingWell. Sorry about
the hip bursitis. This is something I've had flare up a couple of times in the past. First of all, your immediate need is treatment - which your doctor should be arranging. Bursitis is not something to be left untreated. Sometimes a cortisone shot in the area is very effective and is all that's needed. There are also prednisone pill therapy, and physical therapy is sometimes prescribed along with both. I found that the combination of either the shot or pills with
physical therapy works best. In addition to that, continuing the special movements recommended in therapy is important. Strengthening the muscles around the hip is important. You might benefit from using a pillow to support your legs while in bed - but please discuss all this with your doctor.
I would not go and buy a new mattress now. I think you should see your doctor and go through what I explained above. Good luck!
