I just had orthoscopic debridement on my knee 2 weeks ago. They found the cartilage under the knee cap wearing away. I used to have constant pain in the front, sides and down my shins. Both my knees are effected. I presume this is arthritis as the xrays showed deteriation in both knees.
When I was in constant pain, only Celebrex did the trick. But this was scary to take as I also have UC and you should not use these type of meds. I try to use only Tylenol arthritis, ice and heat now. Since the surgery, the constant pain is gone, but any sudden movements cause pain. It may take a month or so to heal. My other knee is now taking the brunt of the pain.
I was told I should not use a treadmill, eliptical, run, squat, etc. etc and I am a housekeeper for a large facility doing floor and carpet work. This will just accelerate the process and I could end up in bad shape long before I could retire. Swimming or walking are the only excersizes I can do now.
Oh, I should lose 10-15 lbs!
I do take omega 369 and don't really know what or if it helps. I did try MSM, glucosomine and condritin but found no improvement. I have read you need a high dose and it may take months to start to work.
