about 2 weeks ago I developed a major problem while eating lunch. I was eating some steak and started having bad pain in my jaw and ears. This occurred twice in a few days. Ever since I have seemed stuffy nosed and my ears are popping constantly and I sound stopped up and my jaw then and now does not want to open good. Not to mention I have a sore throat more on with this then off and feel a clump in my throat. Has anyone else experienced this pain upon chewing something like that? I do not think the popping in the ears and the pain upon chewing steak and the inability to open my mouth good would be reflux.

Diagnosed with left sided UC in sigmoid colon and rectum 1986.

Put on Azulfidine 2 X 3 a day and Rowasa enemas 60mg.

Have been pretty much in remission overall other than a few flares over the past 21 years.

Medicine changed to Asacol 400mg 2 pills X3 times a day. Taken off all meds in 2004.

Diagnosed with acid reflux 2005. Put on Protonix 40mg.

Have been using Canasa 1000mg suppositories nightly since January 2007.

Was put back on Asacol 400mg 2 pills 2X a day in July 2007 maintenance.

I think I would get an appointment with an ENT to start with.  If you can't get in to see an ENT right away, try to see your dentist.

Good luck!

It may be different for everyone but I have both seasonal allergies and TMJ (confirmed by X-ray). For me if its allergies chewing something chewy (like tootsie rolls) relieves the preasure and head ache. If its TMJ my jaw gets stffer if I chew something chewy. Mucinex, steam and chewing will provide lasting relief for the allergy headache-nothing seems to help the TMJ ones not even Tylenol.
